British Lion Eggs will be sponsoring the Annual Parliamentary Pancake Race which raises funds for brain injury charity Rehab UK.
The race takes place on Shrove Tuesday (24 February) and forces MPs to put politics aside while they compete in cross-party teams, racing one another across College Green, opposite the House of Commons – all whilst flipping pancakes!
The tradition of making pancakes on Shrove Tuesday is hundreds of years old, and marks the day on which eggs are used up before the period of Lent. It remains the single biggest week for egg sales throughout the year.
Andrew Parker, Chairman of the British Egg Industry Council, said: “Sponsoring the Parliamentary Pancake Day race allows us to raise awareness of British Lion eggs at a peak time for egg sales and, at the same time, support a worthwhile charity in Rehab UK. It is also a great opportunity to remind MPs about one of the great successes of British agriculture.”
